One day National Seminar organized at HMV

Jalandhar 15 April (Gurkirat Singh)- The department of English, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya in collaboration with Pragati Educational Council under the able guidance of Dr. N.K. Neb, General Secretary organized a one day National Seminar on ‘The Treatment of Gender, Race and Class in English Literature”.  Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen graced the occasion as the chief guest.  The seminar began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.  In her address, Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen expressed that race and gender is a matter of concern.  A solution is possible only if a balance is maintained for the growth of a stable and peaceful society.  The prestigious Literacy Award instituted by the council was conferred upon Dr. Manjit Kaur for her poetic oeuvre in her collection of poetry titled ‘Strawberry Sun’ and other poems.  The chief guest Dr. Ajay Sareen, Dr. N.K. Neb, Dr. B.K. Sharma, Dr. Narinder Kumar Sharma, Prof. Mamta, Mrs. Ravinder Neb and Miss Prabhuti Neb presented the award to Dr. Manjit Kaur.  Quality research papers were presented by more than 25 scholars hailing from Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal.  Lively interactive discussions were held on works of Dr. Neb, Shauna Singh, Mahesh Dattani, Casmus, R.Raj Rao, Vladimir and others.  Dr. B.K. Sharma, the chair person appreciated the efforts of the presenters.  Mrs. Mamta HOD English proposed a vote of thanks.  The stage was conducted by Mrs. Lovleen Kaur from department of English.  On this occasion, Mrs. Kranti Wadhwa, Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda, Mrs. Ritu Bajaj, Ms. Nandini, Ms. Maneet and others were also present.
