Inter-College Creative Writing Competition at GNDU Media Dept.

Jalandhar 7 March (Jaswinder Azad)- An Inter-college Creative Writing Competition was organized by the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication at Guru Nanak Dev University, Regional Campus, Ladhewali here today. The event included competitions like Short Story Writing, Poetry Writing, Report Writing and Film Story Idea. About ten teams from various colleges of the region participated in this event.
The participants were given different topics in different categories like Short Story idea was on 'She Stared at me', Poetry writing was on 'Silence', Report Writing was done on ' Chief Minister's visit to Jung-E –Azaadi' to showcase their creativity and talent. The judgement was done on the basis of the novelty of idea, creativeness and the usage of language. The results of the various events areAkash Singh, CT Group of Institutions stood first and Sanchay, Department of Laws, GNDU Regional Campus stood second in Film Story Idea. PovietPreet Kaur, CT Group of Institutions stood first and Paras from DAV College, Jalandhar bagged second position in Report Writing. Karan Sharma, CT Group of Institutions stood first and Harsh Kumar, DAV College Jalandhar stood second in Poetry writing and finally Harinder Kaur, Dept. of Laws, has bagged first and Savita from Punjabi Dept., GNDU Regional Campus has got second position in the Short Story Writing event respectively.
While speaking on occasion, Dr. Namarta Joshi, Head of the Department said that events like this not only help the students to polish their creative aptitude but also in improving their language proficiency. The students must participate in such competitions to gain confidence.
Dr. Charan Kamal Walia, Assistant Professor applauded the participants for performing well and coming up with unique and beautiful write-ups in different categories. She also encouraged the students to improve their writing skills as this would help them in their future ventures also.
Ms. Sukriti, Ms. Muskan, Ms. Savita, Ms. Sukhmani and Mr. Rama Shankar were also present on the occasion.
