A Photography Exhibition ‘Girl Gaze’ first of its kind organized at Apeejay

Jalandhar 27 March (Jaswinder Azad)- An exhibition entitled ‘Girl Gaze’ centered around the lives of women folk of Punjab and UK was organized at Apeejay College of fine Arts, Jalandhar from 23rd March to 27th March, 2018. In this venture, the contemporary photographic stories of renowned international artists like Jocelyn Allen, Jennifer Pattison, Andrea Fernandes and Uzma Mohsin were exhibited and Iona Fergusson was the curator. The endeavour on part of India and UK enabled a fruitful channel of cultural interaction as it was a collaborative project between Creative Black Country, Multistory and Nazar Foundation. Its chief aim was to bring novelty in creative arts and build sustainable networks between artists of both the countries.
Punjabi Diaspora has formed a large part of UK’s population who have created their identity in the area, redefining the cultural, economic and social landscape. True picture of Punjabi Diaspora and glimpses of women living in Punjab was explored in form of Photography of Punjabi women.
Principal Dr. Sucharita Sharma opined that culture and art form most important moral values for human beings along with promoting their aesthetic senses. She further said cultural interactions and exchange programmes also strengthen the bonds of nations.
