Exuberance and ebullience spread in the premises of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar

Jalandhar 23 February (Gurkirat Singh)- Ecstasy, exuberance and ebullience spread in the premises of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar with the inauguration of its vibrant 6th International Design week. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University inaugurated the design week as the chief Guest. Prof. Sarabjot Singh Behl, Dean, Student welfare, GNDU, Amritsar and International dignitaries like Renowned Art Directors and Designers MR. RENÉ PIJNENBURG, MS. FLEUR SWILDENS and MR. GÉ SMIT Sr Art Director / Designer / Creative Thinker / Educationist from Netherlands graced the occasion as the resource persons in this 6 day venture. The eminent personalities were warmly welcomed to the college with glimpses of Punjabi Culture in the form of Gidha and Bhangra performances by college students. The elated Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu highly commended the artistic skills of the students displaying their works made with untiring efforts in the exhibition. To promote the hand- made artifacts, students displayed their handmade articles like Tapestries, Thread Murals, Black Printed, Screen Printed, Embroidered, Tye-Dye and Shivori Suits, Hand Printed Cushion Covers, Bed Sheets made with flock and foil Printing Technique in the exhibition which earned them huge appreciation from the dignitaries. The artistry of the design week is centered upon the Design- Industry Interface. Principal Dr. Sucharita expressed her gratitude to all the dignitaries for illuming the occasion with their benign presence. She further extended a word of thankfulness to Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu whose presence would serve as beacon of inspiration to the youngsters, she opined. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu expressed his admiration for the college and said that Apeejay’s nook and corner is filled with creativity and talent. He said he had visited near about 10,000 colleges across the nation but none can match the righteousness of Apeejay. Mr. Rene relished his memories of the past visit to Apeejay. He extended his views that an artist should truly contribute to make his society a better place to live in by constantly rebuking the social evils through his works. Prof. Sarabjot Singh Behl addressed the gathering that creative process is evolved with the concept of Trinity. A works beauty lies in trinities; creator, industry and consumer; true value of the product, Goodness and Aesthetic sense; people’s choices, profit from the product and its value at social level. National youth Festival winner Jyoti mesmerized the audience by performing kathak. Students of Department of Music enthralled the audience with a group song composed by Anadi Mishra. Principal Dr. Sucharita whole heartedly expressed her jubilance at the fruitful inauguration of the design week.
