Annual award distribution ceremony at DAV College, Jalandhar

Jalandhar 10 February (Gurkirat Singh)- A grand ceremony was organized at the college's auditorium in DAV, which was attended by the Chief Guest of Honour Mr. Sunil Arora (Indian Election Commissioner), Mrs Shruti Arora wife of Shri Sunil Arora, DC of Jalandhar, Varinder Kumar Sharma, Chief electoral officer, Karuna Raju President of Local Advisory Committee ,Justice NK Sood, Arvind Ghai (Secretary DAVCMC; Principal Dr. SK Arora, Vice Principal VK Sareen, Vice Principal Prof. T.D. Saini, Registrar Arun Mehra, Bursar Prof. Ajay Kumar Agarwal, Deputy Registrar Dr. Kiranjit Randhawa, Program Coordinator Dr. S.K. Tuli, Member of Local Advisory Committee, Staff Secretary Prof. Sharad Manocha, Joint Staff Secretary Prof. Amit Sharma, Public Relations Officer Prof. Manish Khanna, Dean EMA Pro Sukhdev Randhawa, local staff representative Prof. Kamaldeep, Dr. Manu Sood and many dignitaries. Arriving at the main gate, the main guest was honored by performing a flute with a traditional drum. After this, Hon'ble Sunil Arora came to the stage where the auditorium was filled with college students and was welcomed by every attendee standing by him. All the guests stood on the stage after the arrival of the sir and played the DAV song. After this the main guest lit lamp with high college officials. After lamp lighting, the girls of the college sang a welcome song in honor of the chief guest. 10 students of the college presented the welcome song with a pleasant voice. While conducting the program, the activities of the college, including the background of establishment of the College, celebrating the centenary year by Staff Secretary Prof Sharad Manocha, were introduced to the Chief Guest. He said, DAV College has won the Best Co-Educational College and College with Potential for Excellence from the NAAC and has a family of 7200 students and 350 teachers and 250 members of non-teaching staff. DAV College maintains a golden history of providing outstanding players to the country, without any merit list, our college students are not complete. To date, it has won 24 Olympics, 8 Arjuna awards, 2 Dronacharya awards. Late Mr. Jagjit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Diljan, Deepanshu Pandit, Hans Raj Hans carries a special place in the DAV College of exemplary artists. On this occasion Principal Dr. SK Arora welcoming everyone, highlighting the activities and achievements of the college, said that the college has played an important role in improving socio-economic status in the society. DAV College is a leading institution among the various colleges in the country. The flexible and easy-to-understand college high quality education and research meets the needs of diverse individuals and sections of society. Principal Dr. Arora said that the entire DAV family is feeling honored by getting the famous and extraordinary personality of the nation Mr. Sunil Arora in his midst. Principal Arora described Sunil Arora as a very dedicated,committed and  hardworking person. Addressing the students, Principal Arora said, "Keep this award is not a ticket for the new life but keep it as a referendum given by the college so that you can fight the evils of the society." You should see big dreams and create development for your country because the country's strategy is dependent on everyone's shoulders. Chief guest Sunil Arora said I have been invited by one of the excellent Colleges nation and  received respect and affection from the college , coming here and feeling proud I am very happy with the overall development of this educational institution. Addressing the students, Sunil Arora said that being thought of as a student, it is a matter of great pride for him to be honored on such a big occasion. Recalling his student life, he said that the days spent in this college in the '70s are still preserved like a beautiful memory. During his speech, he told the students who were honored that all of you are very fortunate, who are studying at the glorious historical academic institution that ages 100 years. Many legends like famous ghazal singer and Padma Bhushan Jagjit Singh, Padma Shri Hans Raj Hans, Bollywood singer Sukhwinder Singh, and Justice S.S. Poonchhi are the alumni of this college. He said that the name of India is counted amidst the young countries of the world and I want to say to the youth that you should accept the challenges of the future and play the role of the creator of the country, he said today West see India India As an opportunity, while people of India are looking for opportunities in the West but the time is changing and the time has come to use these opportunities. During his address, the chief guest explained the opportunities as an example of cricket. He said that a catch in cricket can win the match and it takes the catch easily by making a best fielder on the position without any mistake. In the same way, opportunities do not come by themselves but you have to find opportunities. Simultaneously, he said that development does not mean to wear good clothes, to roam in expensive cars, or to buy expensive mobile, but to respect simplicity, tolerance and respect each other. Describing Mahatma Gandhi's teachings as the Father of the Nation, he said that today the whole world is imitating the teachings given by him. At this time you are studying in this college like a family but after some time when you leave here, a lot of things will change over time. The time to come is not so good for everyone. I believe DAV College will give you unparalleled contribution for your development. He added that there is no shortcut to success that will give you a new path for the future. If you have passed an avalanche in studies, then you should retain it. Encouraging the students, he said that it is important that you work hard and use every moment of the time in a better way. After this the chief guest congratulated the recipients and blessed them for their bright future. Chief guest Sunil Arora was honored with a memento by Justice NK Sood, Arvind Ghai, Principal Dr. S. K. Arora and Mr. Kundan Lal Agarwal.
A cultural program was also presented by the college's EMA Department, the stage was conducted by Convenor of the program Prof SK tuli.

At the end of the program, token of thanks was given by Dean of EMA Prof Sukhdev Randhawa.Specially invited Principal Manoj Kumar, Principal Raj Kumar, Principal Rajesh, Principal Sanjeev Sharma, Principal Anup Vats, Principal Ajay Sarin, Principal C.L. Kochhar, Principal ML Arri, Principal Inderjit Talwar, Principal Navjot Kaur, Principal Raj Kumar, deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar, Distinguished Commissioner and College staff was also present in the function.
