Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar celebrated the International Day

Jalandhar 7 December (Jaswinder Azad)- The Department of Physiotherapy Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar celebrated the International Day for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) today. Sardar Amarjit Singh Anand, State Level Disability activities and Coordinator for PWD was the key speaker. The theme of this competition was disabilities and social attitude. On this occasion rangoli and presentation competitions were also held among the students of BPT I, II, III & IV year. Addressing the partcipants, the chief guest gave information about the status of PWD in Punjab and also about the insurance scheme ‘NIRMAYA’. He cleared the doubts of parents about inclusive education, railway concession and issues of accessibility. Welcoming the chief guest the college Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra emphasised the importance of Disability information centre in the college and assured the parents about assistance of any type in this regard. The head of the department Dr. Raju Sharma told the present that the department had been providing treatment to children with disabilities, since year 2000. Now it was the time to create awareness among the parents about issues associated with disabilities. The programme ended with distribution of prizes to the winners of the competitions. The occasion was witnessed by the presence of the teachers and students of the department.
