Six Day Faculty Development successfully concluded at K.M.V

Jalandhar 18 November (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya - the Heritage and Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar has successfully organized a six-day Faculty Development Programme under DBT Star College Scheme with an idea to promote recent developments and disseminate new techniques of teaching and learning in under graduate Programmes. The main objective of this FDP was to enhance the skills and ability of the teachers and to make them familiar with the latest techniques and developments of higher education.  More than 77 teachers have participated from diverse educational backgrounds.
On the last day, Dr. Jatinder Singh Arora, Director HRD centre, GNDU Amritsar was present as Chief Guest for during the closing ceremony of this six- day FDP programme.   Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the all the participants of this Faculty Development Programme for their enthusiastic participation.
On this occasion, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi said that KMV has provided aon opportunity to young teacher to increase their exposure and learn from the various expert academicians and researchers. She elaborated the importance of such faculty development programmes to enrich the experience of young teachers. She also expressed her gratitude towards all the resource persons and speakers who devoted their valuable time for this FDP. She emphasized on the introduction of digital literacy, innovative thinking, effective communication and high productivity for uplifting the teaching standards. She also delivered a talk on Overcoming immunity to change: the hidden dynamics for growth in education. She highlighted the need of quality enhancement in education, as per her, change is the buzz word and change in the mind set is the need of the hour. Perfection in teaching is not possible unless we change ourselves, we must look into possibilities of exploring new ideas and knowledge. She stressed that the teacher is a facilitator. Her soul stirring talk was well received by all the participants.
Sh. Chander Mohan , President Arya Shiksha Mandal laid stress on adopting innovative techniques in teaching while maintaining our commitment  to inculcate moral values in the education system. Dr. Sundeep Sarin, gave an overview of DBT and highlighting various research avenues and its achievements. Dr. Aman Mahajan, Department of Physics, GNDU  Amritsar delivered a  talk on small organic molecules and nano-carbon composites from chlorine sensing applications which was well received by the participants. Dr. Rajeev Garg, Department of Industrial and Production Engineering NIT Jalandhar delivered a talk on research methodology.
Dr. Gurtej Gandhi, Head Department of Human Genetics, GNDU Amritsar delivered two talks on e–learning and m-learning viz a viz health safety and Genetic Cloning and its Bio-ethical.
Mr. Pardeep Kumar Arora, Assistant Professor PG Department of Computer Science and Applications of  KMV, demonstrated the use of Mandley software. Dr. Madhumeet, Dean Students welfare of KMV, PG Department of English gave an interesting talk  on mentoring for success in which she highlighted the need and relevance of mentoring in present day scenario. She emphasized that the teachers should be role models for the students.
Dr. Gurupdesh Singh, Ex-Director Academic Staff College and former Professor of English GNDU Amritsar gave a talk on Enhancing Communicative Competence. He further added Communication plays a crucial role in teaching and learning; he concluded his talk by laying stress upon the role of rational thinking and controlled communication. Dr. Rajinder Kaur Department of Botanical and Environmental Science GNDU Amritsar talked on the topic Botanical Gardens landscape of Teaching and learning. Dr. Avinash Kaur Nagpal spoke on e-learning.
Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, Department of Chemistry, NIT Jalandhar  spoke on Chemistry for Environment-Hindrance or help. In her lecture she gave an overview of various environmental issues such as smog, pollutants etc. Dr. Parminder Kaur, Principal Govt College Hoshiarpur emphasized on four major skill viz communicate effectively , to learn actively, to think critically and to accept accountability. She suggested that teachers should read the latest books to upgrade themselves with the latest technology.
Dr. Amit Kauts, Dean School of education GNDU Amritsar spoke on the topic, Teachers as Professionals. He differentiated between teaching, learning, education and instruction, His talk was a torch bearer in creating social cohesion, national integration and a learned society.
 Mr Sehdev Sharma, founding director, Success Mantra Educare, Jalandhar while speaking on the topic Critical Thinking said that rational thinking, dedication and thinking out of the box help in having a healthy mind and good environment around us.
Mrs.Updesh Kaur, Head, Department of chemistry, expressed her gratitude towards  Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma, for her whole hearted support and encouragement for organizing such kind of innovative programmes.
