‘IT Spark 2017’ started with full Zeal in Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar 12 October (Jaswinder Azad)- In continuation of its efforts to boost up the students with creativity and competence, Lyallpur Khalsa College, the premiere educational institute of North India today started the event “IT Spark’ under the aegis of PG Department of Computer Science and Information Technology. Sardarni Balbir Kaur, President, Governing Council, Lyallpur Khalsa College was the Chief Guest of the starting session who along with S. Jaspal Singh Wraich, General Secretary, Governing Council and College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra formally opened the event for the students. Sardarni Balbir Kaur congratulated the whole department for the successful organization of the event and promised to extend each type of possible help, which could lead the department on the path of further success. S. Jaspal Singh Wraich encouraged the students with his words of motivation and highlighted the importance of such events , which provide a platform to the students to showcase their talent. Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra appreciated the hard work of the Head of Department Dr. Manohar Singh and all faculty members, who worked hard to ensure quality of teaching as well as extra- curricular activities which has resulted in the leading position of this department among other colleges affiliated with the same university. Dr. Manohar Singh presented the report of the department and shared the journey of the growth of PG Department of Computer Science and IT, which in the year 1986 with the initiatives of Late S. Balbir Singh, Former President, Governing Council, Lyallpur Khalsa College.He also thanked the Governing Council and Principal Dr. GS Samra for their overall support.
The event, started in 2012 entered in its fifth year and saw active participation of  530 students from various classes of the department under the name of seven different houses i.e. Chrome, Omega, Turing, Abacus, Sigma, Zigbee and Gopher. The students will participate in 21 different competitions such as IT Snapshots, IT in Colors, Debugging, IT Rangoli, Query Maestro, IT Quiz, IT Cartooning, Hands on Keyboard, IT Collage, IT Extempore, Software Showcase,  Tech-GD, Web Portal Development, Logo Designing, Logic Whirlpool, Pixel Plus, Ad-Mad Show, Choreography, Personality Face Off, Net Savvy and Test Your Technical Skills during the two days. Prof. Sanjeev Anand, Prof. Sandeep Bassi, Dr. Baldev Singh, Prof. Manpreet Singh, Prof. Sandeep Singh, Prof. Mandeep Bhatia, Prof. Gagandeep Singh and other faculty members also witnessed the occasion. Stage was conducted by Prof Karamjit kaur and Prof. Jaspreet Kaur Bains during the event.
