508 graduates, post graduates and diploma holders were conferred with degrees and diploma at Hindu Kanya College

Jalandhar 13 October (Jaswinder Azad)- As many as 508 graduates, post graduates and diploma holders were conferred with degrees and diploma in the 27th convocation held in the premises of Hindu Kanya College Kapurthala. Dean, Academic Affairs, Guru Nanak Dev University, Dr Kamaljeet Singh conferred the degrees to the pass-outs of 2015-16 and 2014-15 sessions.
“Education should be made more purposeful and it is nothing, if it is not used for welfare of society. By the end of 2020, the youth is going to take over the general command on operations and it can be seen as both challenge as well as an opportunities,” Dr. Kamaljeet Singh said while delivering his convocation address. “It is apathetic that over 75% graduates and postgraduates are not viable for industry. They carry only degrees but not knowledge. We all should ponder on it seriously,” he added.
Dr. Kamaljeet also expressed his concern over other serious issues education scenario is facing these days and cited some statistics showing the serious flaws in education system. “We all should collectively try to make our education more meaningful and result oriented,” he added further. Earlier, Principal Dr. Archna Garg highlight the achievements of college students in the field of Academics, Sports, Extra-Curricular and Cultural activities in her Annual Report. President Management Committee Sh. Tilak Raj Aggarwal welcomed the guests on this occasion in his address. Secretary, Mrs. Gulshan Yadav, after distribution of degrees, administered an oath to all the pass-outs to use their degrees for the noble cause and nation development. Later, Dr. Santosh Taneja, founder of Samkalp, a New Delhi based NGO and Sh. Inder Mohan Kapahy, member, university grants commission also addressed the gathering. Manager Managing Committee Sh Ashwani Aggarwal, Members Sh. Narottam Dev Ratti, Sh. Sudershan Sharma, Smt. Anita Gupta, Smt. Adarsh Parti and Advisor to Management Smt. Kusum Verma, Sh. Satish Sharma were among the prominent persons present on this occasion.
