Jalandhar 17 September (Jaswinder Azad)- Reiterating the firm commitment of the state government to lift each and every grain of paddy during the ensuing procurement season, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that transparent and effective procedure would be adopted for smooth procurement of grains. Presiding over a meeting with the Food & Civil Supplies department and the Rice Sheller owners, the Deputy Commissioner said that said that about 10 lakh metric ton of paddy was expected in the district this year. He as per their fixed capacity 4.75 Lac MT paddy would be allotted to Rice millers. He said that remaining 5.25 Lac MT paddy would be allotted through Release Orders (ROs) as per consent and demand given by rice millers. Mr. Sharma said that earlier this job was done by a committee headed by Deputy Director Food & Civil Supplies but this time in order to make things easier and more transparent RO accepting committee would be headed by Deputy Commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner assured the Rice Millers to keep the process totally transparent and corruption free. He also appealed to rice millers to give their demands for ROs in DFSC office Jalandhar at the earliest and latest by September 22. Mr. Sharma asked the department to complete this process with full transparency and without any nepotism and prejudice. He said that the Rice Millers must be allocated the nearest grain market for the linkage as per the norms. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner said that all out efforts would be made to facilitate the farmers in selling their harvest without any sort of undue harassment.  He said that elaborate arrangements would be made to accomplish this gigantic task in a hassle free, quick and smooth manner. Prominent amongst other present in the meeting included Deputy Food Supply Controller (DFSC) Mr. Narinder Singh.
