St. Soldier Law College has won second position in National Legal Drafting Competition

Jalandhar 18 September (Jaswinder Azad)- The team of St. Soldier Law College has won second position in a prestigious National Legal Drafting Competition organized by Christ University, Bangalore. A total of 39 teams fromacross the country including national law universities participated in the competition. Each team consisting of 3 members was required to draft a Bill on Prison Reforms in India. In the preliminary rounds, the Bills prepared were evaluated by a team of two experts. In that event, St. Soldier team secured 82 marks out of 100 and thus made a place in six teams selected for the final rounds, held on 15th of instant. In this round, the teams were required to give their presentations and respond to questions from the experts and other participants. This session was evaluated by a panel of 3 experts. After this exercise the final results were declared, wherein St. Soldier Law College team was declared First Runners Up. The Bill drafted by St. Soldier Team has 79 sections split in nine chapters apart from Introduction and the Authors note, tracing the origin and developments in the area of prison reforms. The team consisting of Mr. SumitKumar , Ms.  Amanpreet Kaur both of 9th semester B.A LLB and Ms. Jasmeet Kaur of 7th semester also won a cash prize of ten thousand rupees. The Chairman of St Soldier Group Sh. Anil Chopra, Vice Chairperson MrsSangeeta Chopra , Pro Chairman Sh. Prince Chopra and director of the college Dr. Subhash Sharma congratulated the team for this  rare achievement.
