Salaria cannot touch you, Capt. Amarinder Singh tells besieged students of Chintpurni Med college

MCI approval to shift students to other medical colleges in the state awaited
Pathankot 30 September (Jaswinder Azad)- Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, on Saturday assured the besieged students of the controversial Chintpurni Medical College, which is owned by BJP’s Gurdaspur candidate, Swaran Salaria, that his government will not allow their careers to be spoiled due to the mismanagement of the unscrupulous college authorities, and steps were being taken to shift them to other medical institutions in the state. The chief minister, who met the students after his arrival here for the ex-servicemen rally, also allayed their fears that Salaria, who was allegedly harassing them for payment of fees, will harm them. “He’s no longer in control of the college and won’t be able to touch you”, he told the students who complained that they were being harassed and threatened to pay their fees, despite no classes being held, by Salaria and his henchmen. He told the students that his government had sought permission from the Medical Council of India (MCI) to shift them to other medical colleges in the state. He said that the MCI approval is expected soon and the process to adjust them would start thereafter.
Assuring the students that his government would do everything in its power to safeguard their careers, Captain Amarinder Singh said that if need be, separate exams would be held for them in case MCI approval does not come through before the due date of examinations in November.  Speaking to some reporters after meeting the students, Captain Amarinder Singh lashed out at Salaria for his failure to run the college. “Look at these students. What is their fault?”, he said adding that Salaria had failed to manage his own college, jeopardising the future of so many students, so where was the question of him doing anything for the constituency. “He’s only into money making”, the chief minister said.
