World Photography Day Celebrated at GNDU Media Dept

Jalandhar 18 August (Jaswinder Azad)- Jalandhar, August 18: A Photography exhibition by students to mark the eve of World Photography Day was organised in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Guru Nanak Dev University, Regional Campus, Ladhewali here today. Dr. Lakhwinder Singh Johal, an eminent media personality, inaugurated the exhibition. Dr S. S. Sangha, Head, Punjabi Department at Regional Campus, was the guest on the occasion. They were welcomed by Dr Namarta Joshi, Head of Department, and discussed the importance of photography. More than 50 photographs clicked by students on theme ‘ Colours of Life’ were put on display. Nakesh Kumar won the first prize for his photograph. Mukesh and Jaipaul were adjudged second and third respectively. Dr. Johal in his interaction with the budding photographers talked of aesthetic sense and said that photography recorded history and preserved the culture or the future. He also appreciated the efforts of the students. Dr. Johal also addressed the students and said that the younger generation had good eye but social issues need to be addressed through photographs. Dr Charan Kamal Walia, Ms. Sukriti Bahuguna and Mr. Rama Shankar were also present on the occasion.
