Punjab State junior Chess Championship at Mayor World School

Jalandhar 13 August (Jaswinder Azad)- Games takes off in primaries as a way to lure pupils away from their phone screens. Chess often known as a game for the intellectually gifted, is the best sport to exercise the most important organ in our body: the brain. To stimulate the IQ of students, Punjab State junior Chess Championship under 19 was organized by Jalandhar Chess Association in collaboration with Mayor World School on 12th and 13th August 2017. More than 90 students from different districts participated in the competition. 
Present on the occasion were Special Guest the Principal Mr. J.S. Hundal, Dr. Munish Thapar, Secretary Jalandhar District Chess Association, Mr. Rajender Sharma, Secretary Punjab Chess Association, Mr Kirti Sharma, Treasure Jalandhar Chess Association, Mr Sapan Bedi promoter from Everwhere Industry and Ms. Sumidha Aggarwal, Vastu shastra expert.
Various prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners separately under the different categories. Under Boys category Karanveer Singh from Jalandhar bagged the first position, Arman Arora from Amritsar stood second, Raghav Juneja from Fazilka stood third and Sehaj Arora from Amritsar bagged fourth position.
Under Girls category Lavanya Jain from Jalandhar bagged the first position, Priyanka Vashisht from Ludhiana stood second, Kanann Jain from Jalandhar stood third and Savi Julka from Jalandhar bagged fourth position.
Divyam Puri and Aarav Sharma of Mayor World School bagged the Consolation prize. Mr. Munish Thappar gave away the Guest of Honor Trophy to Mr. J.S. Hundal, our worthy Principal and to Ms. Sumidha Aggarwal.
Mr. J.S. Hundal gave a vote of thanks to the guest of Honors and the audience. He boosted the students to be pro-active for further enhancement of their personalities by participating in these kinds of events.
