Independence Day celebrated at GNDU Media Dept.

Jalandhar 11 August (Jaswinder Azad)- A patriotic gathering was held to mark the 70th Independence Day in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Guru Nanak Dev University, Regional Campus here today.  An inter-department speech competition of freedom fighters and great leaders was held. Students delivered the speeches of Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and  Dr. Abdul Kalam. Dr. Roopam Jagota and Ms. Sukriti Bahuguna were the judges for this competition. The students from various departments participated in the event and delivered speeches . Chahat Chabbra stood first, while Jasdeep Kaur stood second and Shreya Aggarwal bagged the third position respectively. Diksha and Sunena sang the patriotic song-Saare Jahan Se Acha and mesmerized the audience. The Department was decorated with tricolor flags and balloons.
Dr. Namrata Joshi, Head of the Department motivated the students to have a positive outlook towards their country. She said that one should be proud to be an Indian and the development the country has made in past 70 years.  Dr Rupam from the Department of Laws also spoke about the  Right to Freedom and the accompanying responsibilities . National Anthem was sung towards the end as a mark of respect towards the nation. Dr. Charan Kamal Walia, Mr. Rama Shankar were also present on the occasion.
