DAV College celebrated International Youth Day by organising a blood donation camp

Jalandhar 12 August (Jaswinder Azad)- At DAV College premises, NCC, Red Ribbon Club and Youth Services Department celebrated International Youth Day by organising a blood donation camp. 72 college students have donated blood in the camp, of which more than 20 students donated blood for the first time. DAV College organized the camp, which is very remarkable. College staff was also present in the camp and donated blood.Camp was organized by NCC, NSS-and Youth Club jointly. Camp organizers arranged fruits, coffee and biscuits for the blood donors. Approximately 72 units of blood were collected in the camp.
Dr Navneet Kaur incharge Blood Bank, Civil Hospital, Jalandhar inaugurated the camp. She said that there are a lot of misconceptions related to blood donation but they are not true. Whenever anyone donates blood it also inspires others for the same. I would like to overcome those fears. After donating blood there is no weakness in the body of any kind. The doctors of Civil Hospital on the occasion checked the haemoglobin of the students before they donated blood.
Principal Dr. S.K. Arora encouraged the donors by telling that donating blood is such a big step towards humanity.It could save someone's precious life, Could light a family’s lamp, and could give happiness to a family. Accidents take place almost daily in our Country. Every drop of blood is not less than a savior for the injured persons. His wording encouraged the students for this great cause.
Prof. S. K. Midda (Incharge NSS) appreciated this great service of the students and the work of the spirit among them he also said that any healthy person over 18 can donate blood. He said that donating blood is the prime duty of every adult citizen of india.
Prof. Lakhbir Singh (President of Pehal) said that blood donation is one of the noble cause in which you can certify that you are having a good health. The more we donate blood, the more we get aware of our responsibilities towards society. The students were given certificates and badges. Many students donated blood for the first time. Students expressed their enthusiasm to donate blood for the needy.
