PCM S.D. College for Women organised of Inter college competition

Jalandhar 2 March (Jaswinder Azad)- Department of Home Science and Fashion Designing of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar organised of Inter college competition in which 116 students of approximately 12 colleges from Amritsar, Jalandhar, Nakodar, Nawanshehar participated enthusiastically. Winners of various competitions were awarded by the Chief Guest Mrs. Shruti Shukla (State Co-ordinator cum deputy director, State council for education research and training, Mohali and Mrs. Anita Dada (Guest of Honour). Students with great zeal participated in various events organised by F.D. and Home Science Dept such as collage making, best out of waste, surface establishments, folds and drapes, innovative dresses, fashion model, fireless cooking, handicraft and rangoli . On this occasion, the Chief Guest Mrs. Shruti Shukla addressed students about the moral crisis prevelant in contemporary society and advised them to avoid mobile phones and social networking sites like facebook, orkut etc.  So as to preserve their character. She also advised them to spend their time with the members of the family and to cooperate family members in solving the family problems. She said, today we have given up love, affection and sensitivity and have become slaves of our desires and in order to fulfill these desires we stoop to any detestable level. We should control our anger and respect every relationship. Seeing active participation of students in various competition, the Chief guest Mrs. Shruti Shukla advised them to choose subjects according to their interests and said the courses offered by the institution will make them self confident and self dependent. This is a strong step towards women empowerment.
On this occasion Sh. Purushottam Lal Budhia (President, DSSD Education Board) , Sh. Vinod Dada ( Joint Secretary, PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar), Mrs. C.M. Markanda, Advisor, DSSD Education Board and Sh. D.K. Joshi, member, Managing committee were present. Prof Sunita Bhalla and Prof Manmeet Kaur were the incharg. Prizes won by students of different colleges.
