Empathy Corner at KMV

Jalandhar 11 March (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-the Heritage Institution, Jalandhar owing its social responsibility has been carrying out extensive social awareness programmes in the city and in villages on a regular basis.  The wide spectrum of these programmes includes awareness rallies against drugs, female foeticide, dowry and visits to old age homes and orphanages.  The student volunteers have also collected and dispatched relief materials for various natural disaster victims in the country. Moving ahead the college started another initiative of self less service by inaugurating the Empathy Corner outside the college setup by Gandhian Studies Centre.  This is a place where the daily requirements of common people will be placed including clothes, blanket, shoes, utensils, toys etc. which can be picked up by any needy passer by.  This initiative aims to create a sense of responsibility and empathy among the younger generation.  As things will be placed in the corner and not given to the needy personality it will build a sense of selfless service among the students. The corner was inaugurated by Mr. Chander Mohan, President Arya Shiksha Mandal and Mrs. Neerja Chander Mohan (Member, KMV Managing Committee) and Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi.  They gave away the clothes and toys to the people who had gathered to take them. The efforts of Dr. Monica Sharma, Director, Gandhian Studies Centre, Dr. Gurjot Kaur and Mrs. Anupam were appreciated by the guest.
