Annual Sports Meet of Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar 10 March (Jaswinder Azad)- The 65th edition of the Annual Sports Meet of Lyallpur Khalsa College was carried out in full colors and zest with the active participation of students and staff members. S. Sukhbir Singh Grewal, a renowned figure in the world of hockey and Deputy Training, Punjab Institute of Sports, Chandigarh graced the occasion as the chief guest. College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra welcomed the chief guest and informed him about the history of the college in the field of sports and also highlighted that the college has given many national and international level players to the country. Dr. Jaspal Singh, Head of Physical Education Department read out the report of sports achievements and records made by the college in various events during this session. All the students of the college, except the trained players of the college, enthusiastically participated in the competitions which kicked off with a disciplined March Past. Students from seven departments -Arts, Sciences, Commerce, Computer Science/IT, Masters group, Physiotherapy and Sports group participated in various athletic events scheduled for the event. On the basis of their consistent performance throughout the year, Prince Parmar was honoured with the highest accolade of Role of Honour while Manvir Singh, Rahul and Shivam were also given special recognitions for their achievements. Overall trophy for the Sports Meet 2017 was bagged by Computer group. Another heartening thing regarding this year’s event was the large number of girl students’ participation in sports events. Staff members-male and female and teaching as well as non teaching- also actively participated in the events. The duties on the microphone were performed by Prof. Gopal Singh Buttar while Dr. SS Bains, Dean Sports provided the vote of thanks to conclude the event.
