DAV, Jalandhar overall winners at GNDU Media fest

Jalandhar 28 February (Gurkirat Singh)- Media Fest Bon Jour -2017 organised by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at GNDU Regional Campus, Ladhewali here today was full of fun and fervor. About 20 colleges and departments from the region participated in 15 media related events like News Reading, RJing, Photography, Page Design, Dubsmash, Group Dance, Rap etc. The function began with lighting of the lamp and Shabad, followed by Ganesh Vandana and a classical dance by the students of the Department. Young girls from under privileged background also gave their heart touching performance. The Chief Guest for the inaugural function was Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, environmentalist and social worker. Addressing the students he emphasized on protecting the environment especially by the students. He said that we have a right to life, guaranteed by the Constitution and pollution has  destroyed that right. Earlier, Prof Kamlesh Singh Duggal welcomed the guests. Mr. Gurmit Singh Multani, Additonal Deputy Commissioner and SDM, Jalandhar gave away the prizes at the end of  the day. DAV College, Jalandhar emerged as the overall winners of the fest. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Multani recounted his own days in college and appreciated the energy of the participants. He said that many avenues in Journalism & other professions are available to the youth of today. Dr. Namarta Joshi, Head of the Department, said that these kind of events gave a good platform and opportunity to the media students to interact with each other. They can also hone their skills and prepare themselves for professional life. Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean of the Campus, Dr. S.S. Sangha, Head Punjabi Department, Dr. Rupam Jagota, Department of Laws and Dr. Charan Kamal Walia were also present on the occasion. The program ended with a rousing bhangra and the students danced away to the DJ tunes.
